What to Expect
Starting Therapy Shouldn't Feel Complicated
Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step. You don't have to have everything figured out before you contact us.
At Crowned Therapy, we want the process to feel clear, supportive, and respectful from your first inquiry through your ongoing care.
Start With an Inquiry
Your first step is to contact Crowned Therapy.
During the inquiry process, you'll have an opportunity to share what you're looking for, ask questions about services, and provide basic information that helps us determine the appropriate next step.
You don't need to know exactly what type of therapy you need.
We're here to help you navigate that process.
Determine the Right Service
Every person and family has different needs.
Based on the information you provide, we will help identify the service and provider that may be appropriate for your needs, goals, and circumstances.
This may include:
Individual therapy
Couples or marriage therapy
Family therapy
Child or adolescent therapy
Group counseling
Other behavioral health services when available
Service availability may vary based on provider capacity, clinical needs, payer requirements, and current programming.
Complete Your Intake
Before beginning treatment, you'll complete the necessary intake and practice forms.
The intake process helps us understand:
What brings you to therapy
Your current concerns
Relevant personal and relational history
Your goals for treatment
Important strengths and support systems
Information needed to coordinate appropriate care
For children and adolescents, the intake process may also involve parents or caregivers as appropriate. Meet With Your Therapist
Your first session is an opportunity to begin building a therapeutic relationship and discussing what you hope to accomplish through therapy.
Your therapist may ask questions about your current concerns, relationships, experiences, strengths, and goals.
You do not have to tell your entire story all at once.
Therapy is a process, and your therapist will work with you to determine what is most important to address.
Develop Your Treatment Goals
As therapy progresses, you and your therapist will identify meaningful treatment goals and develop an approach that fits your needs.
Treatment may focus on areas such as:
Emotional well-being
Relationships and communication
Family functioning
Behavioral concerns
Life transitions
Coping and emotional regulation
Personal growth
Other concerns identified during the assessment process
Goals may evolve as your needs change.
Participate in Your Care
Therapy works best as a collaborative process.
Your therapist brings clinical knowledge and professional experience. You bring your experiences, strengths, goals, and understanding of your life.
Together, you can explore patterns, develop insight, practice new skills, strengthen relationships, and work toward meaningful change.
Progress does not always happen in a straight line. Therapy is a process of learning, reflection, and growth.
What If I'm Not Sure Therapy Is Right for Me?
That's okay.
You don't have to know exactly what you need before reaching out.
If you're experiencing emotional, behavioral, relationship, family, or life challenges and aren't sure where to begin, an initial conversation can help clarify your options.
If Crowned Therapy is not the appropriate level or type of care for your needs, we may help identify another resource or level of support when appropriate.
Your Privacy Matters
Crowned Therapy is committed to maintaining a professional and confidential environment consistent with applicable laws, ethical standards, and practice policies.
Specific confidentiality requirements and limitations will be reviewed as part of the intake process.
